PSJA Alumni and Advisors
At Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD we strive to provide the best educational opportunities for our students. It is our goal to ensure our students are ready for college, professional degrees and the workforce.
This past school year, we embarked on a new challenge, one that would connect our students with professionals in select fields of study to provide them with an enriched experience helping them make an informed decision about the degree they plan to pursue. The first institute, the PSJA Pre-Law Institute, had a great first year, exposing students interested in the field of law with unique opportunities such as job shadowing, real-court experiences and even internships.
In order to continue to expand these efforts, we are happy to announce the start of new institutes at PSJA ISD based on student interest:
Mental Health & Human Services
The PSJA Pre-Law Institute was started in the fall of 2018 with the intent to provide students interested in the field with hands-on learning opportunities. Spearheaded by School Board President Jesse Zambrano, the PSJA Pre-Law Institute gathered multiple local attorneys and judges, most of them PSJA Alumni, to give back to their community by advising our students throughout the year.
In its first year of operation, students in 10th-12th grade were able to witness real court proceedings, job shadowed, and interned with attorneys and judges. The goal of the program is to continue these practices annually and expand the program as it grows.
