PSJA Alumni and Advisors
At Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD we strive to provide the best educational opportunities for our students. It is our goal to ensure our students are ready for college, professional degrees and the workforce.
As part of the PSJA Institutes, our goal is to connect our students with professionals in select fields of study to provide them with an enriched experience helping them make an informed decision about the degree they plan to pursue.
This work can provide our students with unique opportunities such as job shadowing, hands-on experiences and even internships.
In order to reach our goal, we ask PSJA Alumni and other community members to join as mentors and advisors to our students. With virtual learning, even those outside our Rio Grande Valley could join forces with us to expand the knowledge and career awareness of our students.
If you are interested in volunteering your time to serve PSJA students with invaluable knowledge and skills in your field, you may sign-up as an advisor or a mentor.
-An advisor will meet more frequently to help organize and create the interactive sessions for the students with the Institute Lead.
-A mentor will be asked to present at sessions, provide job shadowing or internship opportunities.

The PSJA Pre-Law Institute was started in the fall of 2018 with the intent to provide students interested in the field with hands-on learning opportunities. Spearheaded by then School Board President Jesse Zambrano, the PSJA Pre-Law Institute gathered multiple local attorneys and judges, most of them PSJA Alumni, to give back to their community by advising PSJA students throughout the year.
Students were able to witness real court proceedings, job shadowed, and interned with attorneys and judges. The goal of the program is to continue these practices and expand the program annually.
